Inauguration of the New Building for School of Traditional Medicine and its Clinic

TUMSPR News: The Health Minister, TUMS Chancellor and Tehran Governor inaugurate the new building for TUMS School of Medicine and its clinic on August 29, 2011.


The new building for the School of Traditional Medicine and its clinic affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) was inaugurated by the Health Minister, Dr. Vahid-dastjerdi, TUMS Chancellor, Dr. Bagher Larijani, and Tehran Governor, Mr. Morteza Tamadon on Behesht Street in downtown Tehran, on August 29, 2011.


At the opening speech, TUMS Chancellor considered the due attention to this science was indicative of its importance and medical doctors who graduate from medical schools could follow their studies in traditional medicine.

Dr. Larijani, the head of Policy Making Office of the Ministry of Health, pointed out that traditional medicine was an asset to the country and emphasized on the need for its presence in the world stage to help it grow and prosper.

In the end, the Chancellor mentioned the establishment of a traditional medicine incubator center by the help and participation of some countries.


Mr. Morteza Tamadon, Tehran Governor, said traditional medicine has been regarded as one of the province’s priorities by the government.

Hinting at the positive attitude of people toward traditional medicine, Mr. Tamadon emphasized on the need to update the science. He finally promised to support the School by provincial resources.


Calling traditional medicine a treasure, the Minister of Health, Dr. Marzieh Vahid-dastjerdi, mentioned its presence in the history of man and the benefit we could get from the kind of practice that makes use of traditional medicine in conjunction with modern medicine.

The Minister added that traditional medicine has had a good but controlled growth in the country and good results are emerging.


In the end Dr. Shams-ardekani, the Dean of the School said thanked the authorities and said that the Chancellor has been vigilant about the steps the School was taking to make sure they were in the right direction.
