TUMS Awards Distinguished Professorship to Five Faculty Members

TUMSPR News: In the third meeting of the Council for the Selection of Distinguished Professors, Dr. Hossein Malekafzali, Dr. Shams Shariat Torbaghan, Dr. Alireza Yalda, Dr. Mosleem Bahadori, and Dr. Ahmadreza Dehpour were awarded distinguished professorship in September 2011.
Dr. Hossein Malekafzali, Dr. Shams Shariat Torbaghan, Dr. Alireza Yalda, Dr. Mosleem Bahadori, and Dr. Ahmadreza Dehpour were awarded distinguished professorship in the third meeting of the Council for the Selection of Distinguished Professors, in September 2011.
The distinguished professors are selected when they fulfill the set conditions set for the professorship. The process usually entails introduction of those professors by schools or research centers to the secretariat of the Council of the University before their selection in the Council.
Achieving 300 marks from the publication of original articles in international and domestic scientific databases, registration of patents, being innovative in education during full professorship period and having been a full professor for at least 15 years are the criteria to be met for the promotion of faculty members to this academic degree.
The Council is composed of the chancellor himself, the vice-chancellor for education, the vice-chancellor for research, three nationally distinguished scientific figures and three full professors of the university.
