TUMS Awardees from the 16th National Razi Research Festival (2)

TUMSPR News: The 16th Razi Research Festival which is dedicated to appreciating research in medical sciences was held on January 10, 2011 and Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) won 43% of the awards in this national competition.
The 16th Razi Research Festival which is dedicated to appreciating research excellence in medical sciences was held on January 10, 2011 and Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) won 43% of the awards in this national competition.
13 research centers, 451 researchers, 83 junior researchers, 106student researchers and one researcher residing abroad – a total of 660 – participated in the festival and 44 awardees were honored. 27% of the researchers were female and 73% male. TUMS share of the awards was 19 including:

- 4 awards to student researchers:
Ali Hassanpour Dehkordi (PhD student): “The impact of problem-based learning (PBL) and lecturing on the behavior and attitudes of Iranian nursing students”
Mohammad Hossein Ghahremani (Associate professor): “The expression of p38, ERK1 and Bax proteins has increased during the treatment of newly diagnosed acute promyelocytic leukemia with arsenic trioxide”
- One award in the junior researcher category:
Ehsan Seyedjafari Oliaeenejad (PhD in biotechnology): Nanohydroxy apatitei-coated electrospun poly )L-lactide) nanofibers enhance osteogenic differentiation of stem cells and induce ectopic bone formation
- Two awards to TUMS research centers:
TUMS Endocrine and Metabolism Research Center
Farabi Hospital’s Eye Research Center
- Two awards to TUMS technology incubator research centers:
TUMS Medical Equipment and Devices Incubator Research Center
TUMS Pharmaceutical Incubator Research Center
- One award to TUMS student committee research center:
TUMS Students’ Scientific Research Center
One award to one of TUMS 44 scientific journal:
Iranian Journal of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology
- One award to the University itself:
Chancellor: Dr. Bagher larijani, vice-chancellor for Research: Dr. Akbar Fotouhi
TUMS has 77 research centers, 11 schools and three technology incubator centers. Annually, TUMS finalizes 1500 research projects and publishes 44 scholarly journals with 3500 scientific articles.
