India’s Biotech Consortium Company’s Manager Visit to TUMS Pharmaceutical Incubator Center

TUMSPR News: Dr. Purnima Sharma, the managing director of Biotech Consortium India Limited, paid a visit to the Pharmaceutical Incubator Center affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences on January 3, 2011.


The managing director of Biotech Consortium India Limited, Dr. Purnima Sharma, paid a visit to the Pharmaceutical Incubator Center affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and talked to the head of the center, Dr. Mohammad Fazeli for evaluating the possibility of prospective collaborations between the two centers on January 3, 2011.

Giving a brief history of Biotech Consortium India Limited, Dr. Purnima, said the company had been promoted by the Department of Biotechnology lead by India’s Ministry of Science and Technology and its shareholders included all Indian Financial Institutions. The company has been incorporated in 1990 and it is active in providing in a vast array of activities such as Consultancy, Technology Transfer, Project Management, IP Facilitation, Biosafety & Regulatory Services, Human Resource Development and Certification Services. She also elaborated on the linkages between the company and other domestic and international institutions and companies including the Central Government of India, Universities, International organizations, entrepreneurs, state governments and financial and research institutions.

The head of TUMS Pharmaceutical Incubator Center, Dr. Mohammad Fazeli, too, briefed the guests on the history of the center and its scope of activities and introduced different parts of the center including the Pilot Manufacturing Facilities, its analytical laboratories and cell culture facilities while describing the help the center provides for pharmaceutical and research companies in commercializing their products and innovations and helping them obtain IP certificates.

Converging on the possibility of prospective collaborations, the two sides agreed to prepare a memorandum of understanding before visiting different parts of the center.
