TUMSPR News: In the latest webometric ranking of world universities, Tehran University of Medical Sciences ranked 1037 to repeat its third place in Iran although it has done remarkably well in some of the categories used for ranking in July 29, 2011.
In the latest webometric ranking of world universities for July 2011 by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones CientÃficas (CSIC) which is the largest public research organization in Spain, Tehran University of Medical Sciences ranked 1037 to repeat its third place in Iran although it has done tremendously well in some of the categories used for ranking in July 29, 2011.
Among 12000 eligible higher scientific institutions out of the 20000 related websites on the net and among 532 Iranian universities University of Tehran has ranked 708 in the world and first in Iran while Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has ranked second in Iran and 1020 globally. University of Tehran has also achieved the 98th place to be among the top 100 Asian universities.
Regarding the criteria used for the rankings, Visibility (50%), Rich Files (15%), Scholar (15%) and Size (20%), TUMS has done well in Scholar output and has ranked 134th as it has done in Size criterion, 676, but it seems it needs to work on its visibility and uploading its scholarly output or Rich Files more savvily.
