Reporters Day 2011 Observed by TUMS to Consolidate Rapport and Productive Interaction

TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences observed the Reporters Day 2011 by inviting reporters and news anchors active in health news to a ceremony at the Museum of the History of Medicine to build rapport and maintain productive interaction on August 7, 2011.
Giving high importance to Reporters Day 2011, the Chancellor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Dr. Bagher Larijani, accompanied by the vice-chancellors for health, education, research, administration and logistic, manager of public relations and some other authorities hosted a large number of news anchors and reporters from different TV channels and newspapers active in broadcasting and publishing health news to build rapport and maintain productive interaction on August 7, 2011. The ceremony was held at the Museum of the History of Medicine.
At the opening speech, the manager of TUMS Public Relations, Dr. Gatmiri pointed out that news was characteristic of human beings and said that news services had greatly developed in the society and its growth in the health sector was twice as big.
The deputy of education of TUMS Nephrology Research Center added that his interest and experience in news was older than his medical experience and he continued to work in both fields and build better ties with reporters and news agencies.
Dr. Gatmiri added that TUMS PR benefited from the facile flow of information by the cooperation of about 50 reporters outside and about 120 affiliates inside the University to proficiently cover the vast number of activities in the institute which had more than 20,000 staff, 18000 students, 1000 intermediary managers some of whom have had ministerial, vice-ministerial and managerial experience and quite large numbers of research centers which are spread from the southern to northern parts of the country.
The presence of health news reporters was an opportunity for the University and the ceremony was to honor their efforts in this domain, he said.
In his speech, TUMS Chancellor said that being news reporting like any other domain entailed certain challenges which going into its details could bring about problems and not publishing it could leave the defects intact, therefore, reporters could play a positive role in the health sector. He added that the health sector like any other sectors could bear some difficulties in the services they provide and the media could be of invaluable help to the materialization of health objectives.
Giving a short account of the activities of the University Dr. Larijani said the University with its 77 research centers and 44 scholarly journals and 1500 annual research projects produced 3300 research articles and one-third of the articles published internationally among 52 medical universities.
In the end, the Chancellor praised the efforts of 12 health reporters and handed them plaques of appreciations:
Dr. Farhad Ghorbani and Dr. Amirhossein Seyedi from the News Channel, Dr. Nasrollah Kasravi from Channel 4, Yousef Salami from the Young Journalists Club, Hossein Aghaie from Ettelaat Newspaper, Somayeh Zokaie from Students News Channel, Homayoun Langroudi from Afarinesh Newspaper, Afshin Shaeri from Fars News Agency, Zohreh Baal from Mehr News Agency and Jamshid Rabie, Mehdi Golpayegani and Maryam Zahedi as the representatives of different sectors of TUMS Public Relation.
