TUMS Pays Tribute to 12 of its Best Academics for the Year 2011

TUMSPR News: TUMS introduced 12 best academics for the year 2011 in a meeting hold at Avicenna Conference Hall on May 9, 2011.

The professors who were commemorated were Dr. Mohammad-hassan Lashgari, ophthalmologist, Dr. Vali-allah Mehrabi, pediatric surgeon, Dr. Seyed Habt al-Din Borghaie, ENT surgeon, Dr. Habib Ansarin, dermatologist, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Islami, immunologist, D. Bagher Larijani, endocrinologist, Dr. Manouchehr Gharouni, cardiologist, Dr. Mahboub Lessan-Pezeshki, nephrologist, Dr. Mir-Abbas Abd-al-Vahabi, surgeon and anatomist, Dr. Abbas Monzavi, implantologist, Dr. Parvin Pasalar, biochemist, and Dr. Mohsen Amini, chemical pharmacist.

At the opening speech, Dr. Bagher Larijani, the chancellor for Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) thanked the faculties and students for their 40% share of research among the state’s medical sciences universities and said they are the main source of academic activity in the University.

Dr. Larijani said TUMS with 7000 hospital beds was the largest health service render in the country and the University had two strategic goals: one promoting the people’s health and two, moving at the frontiers of medicine.
He finally revealed his dynamism in working long hours from dawn to dusk: his love and deep respect for the faculties and students and the progress of the University.

Dr. Shams Shariat Torbaghan, the provost pathologist, was the second to take the stage where he said a professor should be very patient and devote himself to heavenly goals.

Dr. Yadgari, the head of ACECR branch in TUMS said students were in real need to recognize the ones who have devoted themselves to academic activity.

In the end, every candidate was called onto the stage where they were applauded by the staff, students and faculty members and were given plaques of appreciation.
