University Chancellors of Islamic Countries to Meet at TUMS

TUMSPR News: The first meeting of Islamic World university chancellors to be held in Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) on February 19 to 20, 2011.


The first meeting of Islamic World university chancellors will be held in Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) on February 19 to 20, 2011, said Dr. Ghazi Khansari, the director of TUMS International Relations. Aside from domestic medical universities chancellor, including those of Shiraz, Meshad, Tabriz, Isfahan, and Tehran, university chancellors from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Syria and Malaysia will attend the meeting.

On the objectives of the meeting, Dr.Ghazi-khansari, said the conference seeks to materialize one of the decisions made at the meeting of Medical Schools deans for Islamic Countries on Kish Island in late May 2007 for the creation and development of an academic network. He added that the draft of the meeting had been prepared by the Ministerial Deputy for Education and sent to Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). Having been approved by ISESCO, the draft was turned to a project and run in TUMS. TUMS was later selected to host the present meeting.

On the meeting's agenda, Ghazi-Khansari mentioned the establishment of a secretariat for the exchange of information, cooperations in education, research and telemedicine.
